The MINISFORUM HX200G is a compact computer that boasts the powerful components typically found in gaming laptops. Revealed at CES 2024, this computer features a relatively powerful CPU, the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX 16-core, 32-thread processor and an AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT discrete GPU RDNA 3 with 32 compute units. The MINISFORUM HX200G is one of the first mini PCs to support PCIe Gen 5 NVMe SSDs.

While pricing and detailed specifications have yet to be announced, promotional pictures reveal the presence of at least one USB-C port, one USB-A port, an audio jack, a power button, a large vent, and what appears to be a microphone array on the front of the device. The MINISFORUM HX200G could be an interesting option for machine learning workloads, if it’s possible to get ROCm working on the unit.

Mini PC maker MINISFORUM has released the MINISFORUM MS-01, its first “Mini WorkStation” computer. Priced at $549 and up, the MS-01 offers a range of features at a more affordable price compared to similar workstations from other companies.

The MS-01 comes in four pricing/configurations options, including barebones models and models with Core i9-12900H or Core i9-13900H processors, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. The compact workstation measures 196 x 189 x 48mm, making it small by workstation standards but larger than other MINISFORUM computers.

The MS-01 offers a variety of networking, connectivity, and expansion features. It includes 2 x 10 GbE Ethernet ports, 2 x 2.5 GbE Ethernet ports, 1 x HDMI 2.0 port, 2 x USB4 ports, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, 2 x USB 2.0 Type-A ports, and 1 x 3.5mm audio port. It also supports WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

The computer features a PCIe x16 slot that can be used for additional M.2, network, or USB capabilities, or for a PCIe 4.0 x8 half-height graphics card. It supports up to an NVIDIA RTX A2000 discrete GPU. The MS-01 has fan active cooling and offers enough cooling power to allow stable performance at up to 80 watts. It can support up to three SSDs, with options for PCIe Gen 4 and Gen 3 ports, as well as an optional U.2 NVMe SSD. It also has two SODIMM slots for up to 64GB of DDR5-5200 memory.

Overall, the MINISFORUM MS-01 is a compact and feature-rich workstation that offers a range of options at an affordable price, making it an interesting choice for a mini server or similar.

MINISFORUM Launches Mini PC with Ryzen 7 7840HS Chip and Oculink Port Starting at $479

MINISFORUM has launched the EliteMini UM780 XTX, a compact featuring an AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS processor pushed to 70 watts, a notable increase from its standard 35-54 watt operation. Priced at a promotional rate of $479 for the base model and $629 for a version with 32GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, the listed prices represent a launch promotion with a standard starting price of $579. The UM780 XTX shares similarities with the UM790 XTX, showcased in China earlier, which is expected to feature a slightly more powerful Ryzen 9 7940HS processor.

Under the hood, the UM780 XTX boasts two SODIMM slots supporting up to 96GB of DDR5-5600 memory and two M.2 2280 slots for PCIe 4.0 solid-state drives. It includes an M.2 2230 wireless card supporting WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5. The magnetic top cover, removable for easy access, features an RGB light panel that can be customized or disabled through BIOS settings.

Connectivity options include 1 x HDMI 2.1, 1 x DisplayPort 1.4, 2 x USB4 (with DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery), 1 x Oculink, 2 x 2.5 GbE Ethernet, 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, and 1 x 3.5mm audio. Notably, the two USB4 ports support 40 Gbps data transfer speeds, while the Oculink port can handle speeds up to 63 Gbps.

Additional features comprise an enhanced cooling system with liquid metal applied to the CPU, active cooling via a fan, and a TDP boost for the AMD processor. The UM780 XTX supports two power modes: a Balanced mode with a TDP configured to a maximum of 54 watts and a Performance mode allowing operation at up to 70 watts for improved sustained performance.
